Our\u00a0<a href=\"\/index.php\/build-and-test\/engine-rigs\/\"><font color=\"red\">engine rigs<\/font><\/a>\u00a0are all mobile within the test houses, allowing a significant level of flexibility in the test arrangement to provide appropriate flows to meet requirements. The facilities then provide key infrastructure elements to ensure that the tests can be suitably supported and Kelston. This capability has been developed to provide a very cost-effective route for bench testing of small scale items. The facility benefits from S &amp; C staff permanently on site to run tests but it can also be operated by customers if requested.<\/p><p>The installed capabilities are as follows:<\/p><p>\u2013 100 cubic foot compressed air tank \u2013 10 bar<br \/>\u2013 Capable of 24 g\/sec continuous flow<br \/>\u2013 Air can be heated to 600\u00baC using 4kW or 6kW power supply<br \/>\u2013 Furnaces can supply additional heat to 1000\u00baC<br \/>\u2013 13kW capacity chiller<\/p><p>The site also benefits from:<\/p><p>\u2013 Roller shutter access<br \/>\u2013 Ceiling height in test area approx 5m<br \/>\u2013 Full data acquisition system<br \/>\u2013 HD and IR imagery<br \/>\u2013 Orifice meters<br \/>\u2013 A fully installed workbench<\/p><p>The facility has already been utilised by HiETA Technologies Ltd, Rolls-Royce and the University of Bath for a range of projects including:<\/p><p>\u2013 Novel heat exchanger design testing<br \/>\u2013 Oil bearing systems investigation<br \/>\u2013 Regenerative carbon scrubbers in conjunction with a breathing simulator \u2013 capable of providing CO2 enriched air flows at a controllable breathing rate and capacity.<\/p><p>The Beck Lab is named in remembrance of Clifford Beck, who was a vendor of Coanda Air Mover devices for many years and was instrumental to the success of S &amp; C Thermofluids as the company was starting
