There is currently an opportunity for an experienced Aerospace Engine Technician to join the Experimental Services team at S & C Thermofluids on a 12 month contract, to perform maintenance and repair tasks.
S & C Thermofluids Ltd provides research and engineering solutions to thermofluid and fluid dynamics challenges across a range of sectors. The company utilises analytical and experimental tools to develop engineering products and systems. The Head Office is in Bath and the main test facility is near Cirencester.
The experimental facilities range from small-scale compressed air systems and liquid flow rigs to full-scale aerospace jet engines such as the Adour Mk104. The company designs and builds test rigs which are fitted to the flow supply and data is gathered on its aerothermal performance. As such there is a large number of out-of-service engines which require inspection, stripping down and maintenance, and then integrating into the test rigs.
We are looking for an experienced aerospace engine technician to undertake stripping and maintenance tasks on a variety of gas turbine engines for a fixed 12 month period.
The engines involved include:
- Rolls-Royce Gnome 1200 and 1400
- Adour Mk 104
Experience in these particular engine types would be desirable.
Note that the engines are not to be maintained at airworthy condition as they are used purely for research.
Candidates must be able to work independently and manage their own tasks while adhering to deadlines.
Duties to include, not exclusively:
• Gas turbine maintenance
• Compressor stripping and cleaning
• Fuel systems maintenance and repair
Skills and attributes
• Experience with gas turbine maintenance and repair
• Ability to multi-task and apply knowledge to new environments
• Must be mechanically inclined; able to use hand tools, perform manual assembly
• Basic computer skills: MS Word, Excel, Access
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• UK National
• Lifting qualification
• Working at height qualification
• Forklift training
Duration: Full-time, 12 month fixed term.
Hours: Flexible working hours possible around a core period of 10am-4pm daily
Salary: competitive, dependent upon experience and current pay levels.
